Department of Mechanical Engineering is established in 2008 with state of the art laboratory facilities along with modern central workshop. Department of Mechanical Engineering will cater to the present day global need in various areas of mechanical Engineering by providing value added education to the students. The department is committed to produce best mechanical engineers who can contribute something and sustain in this global scenario.

Faculty members of this department are from highly reputed institutes with vast knowledge and experience in the field. They are also actively involved in research activities.

Departmental Highlights :

• The department has excellent infrastructure and Laboratory facilities.

• The institute is situated in the O P Jindal Industrial Park, so students are more exposed to industrial activities.

• Students get opportunity for frequent industrial visits, which enhances the students’ skill and empower their knowledge.

• The workshop has five major sections and is fully equipped with machines which range from conventional centre lathe to high quality Universal milling machine, shaper, Planner, MIG and TIG welding Machine and Lathe machines.

• The department is well equipped with other modern Laboratories like Kinematics of Machines, Dynamics of Machines, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Mechanical Measurement and Metrology, CAD Lab etc.

• Computer Aided Design Laboratory is equipped with 30 user licenses of AutoCAD 2010.

• Some of the available major Equipments are Universal Testing Machines, Torsion Testing Machine, fatigue Testing machine, spring Testing machine, Vortex flow apparatus, Electrical analogy apparatus, Journal Bearing apparatus, slip and creep measurement apparatus, Coriolli’s apparatus, large number of Mecatronics instruments etc.

• Students of Mechanical Engineering Department have gone for Summer Industrial Training at Various Organizations, such as Bhilai Steel Plant, Rourkela Steel Plant, CSEB, Korba, Monnet Ispat and Power Ltd, SECL, Korba, JSPL, Raigarh etc.

• One of the faculty members is pursuing Ph.D. from IIT. Kharagpur. Four international research publications have been made in recent past from the department.
